WAMP - Apache, MySQL, PHP on Windows

If you are a web programmer,student or developer, then WAMP is a must. WAMP is for windows operating system and latest version is WAMPserver 2.0

With this software installed and running as services, you could test/load/experiments all kind of web scripts you develop or you install. So, if you want to test the scripts before installing on your remote server, WAMP is the right tool for you. If you want to learn how scripts work, then WAMP is for you. If you want to test try and hack your own server, this is the ideal playground for you.

Normally, when it gets installed, in it’s root folder, there is a folder like ‘www’ or something like that. That’s where your scripts go and you test drive it loading browser and inputting the address as “http://localhost”(without quotes) and hit enter or also you could input 127.0.0.1 in the address bar of your browser to load the server locally.

So, if you’ve created a folder inside ‘www’ folder like “myfirstscript”, then you’d load it locally with “http://localhost/myfirstscript” on your favorite browser.

If you are developing or learning PHP, try your script that way before you actually put it in the remote server.
