PLONE - Next Generation Free OpenSource CMS
February 4, 2008

CMS is the short form of Content Management System. This is one excellent platform to setup any kind of sites, be it web directory, news sites, forum, or anything. You can use CMS for various purposes. Mostly, CMS runs on ‘modules’(which is quite easy to install and use and many developers contribute useful modules related to that particular CMS type) and that gives you the extra power to customize everything you see on the main page of the site running CMS engine.
Plone is the next generation Free Opensource CMS that I’ve came across recently and I was stunned to see it’s simplicity and powerful site rendering and working.
According to plone.org itself,
“Plone is a ready-to-run content management system that is built on the powerful and free Zope application server. Plone is easy to set up, extremely flexible, and provides you with a system for managing web content that is ideal for project groups, communities, web sites, extranets and intranets.”
If you want to try this excellent CMS, then you must visit their site www.plone.org and see the huge Video tutorials(”screencast” in their words) and lots of helpful infos for any newbie;from installing to configuring this CMS.
